Elite: Dangerous is a spaceflight simulation and open-world MMO developed by Frontier Developments. Set in a scientifically modeled 1:1 scale representation of the Milky Way, the game offers trading, combat, exploration, and mining across 400 billion star systems. It combines realistic flight mechanics with deep economic simulation and a persistent shared universe.

Key Contributions

Galaxy Map System — Prototyped and designed the galaxy map, a core navigation and exploration interface that allowed players to chart courses across the game's 400 billion star systems.

Economy Support — Supported the creation and balancing of the in-game economy, contributing to the supply and demand models that drove trading and player-driven market dynamics.

Results & Outcomes
  • Sustained a dedicated player community for over a decade since launch
  • Galaxy map became a defining feature of the game's exploration experience
  • Successfully expanded from PC to console platforms, broadening the player base significantly
